I often walk through one of the most important tourist areas of the city of Santo Domingo, the colonial city or the Colonial Zone, characterized by its cobbled streets, tree-lined squares and beautiful colonial buildings dating from the time when Santo Domingo was Founded by the Spanish in 1496. Here are emblematic buildings such as the Primada de América Cathedral, built in the 16th century, and the Alcázar de Colón, residence of the first Spanish rulers in America.
